I read Rivals a few years ago and loved every page!

It’s quite difficult to compare a book and its characters to its TV adaptation, as we all bring our own perception of how certain characters should look and act. Also, while we can read a book at our leisure, television should move at a pace that fits the format and not drag, so some characters or subplots may have to be cut to save time.

Makes us love Declan as much as we hate Lord Bee!

At the same time, yes, there are differences from the book, but none of them are so significant that they spoil the overall entertainment value. The characters, especially Aidan Turner as Declan O’Hara, an honest journalist, and David Tennant, the nasty Lord Bee, are great!

It was great to see Jilly Cooper on the wall at a restaurant lunch

The 80s music is fantastic, although the only thing I found annoying is the shrill operatic opening music, just not very appropriate. As for all the sexual walls, yes, we could miss some, because we all have imaginations, but it wouldn’t be what Cooper wrote in the book.

He seemed to love the show as much as I did

The last episode didn’t end the way it did in the book, so I hope there’s at least one more season where we get to see what happens with Taggy and RCB… And of course we know the nasty Lord B is going to be through around to sow even more chaos.
